Basketball is more than a game — it’s a platform for connection, awareness, and impact.
Trinity Basketball’s Community & Charity Initiatives bring people together through sport while supporting causes that matter,
from local engagement with the NEIC Trojans to national health campaigns like Movember and Pink for Purpose.
At Trinity Basketball, we believe our impact goes far beyond the court. Community engagement is at the heart of what we do,
and we’re committed to using basketball as a force for positive change.
One of our proudest initiatives is our collaboration with the North East Inner City (NEIC), through which we co-fund a dedicated Development Officer alongside
Trinity Sport and Basketball Ireland. This partnership helps bring high-quality basketball experiences and support into the local community.
Our students and scholars play a vital role in this outreach, volunteering their time and talent to coach with the NEIC Trojans club, lead camps,
deliver sessions in schools, and run after-school clubs. They also help organise exciting blitzes in Trinity, welcoming boys and girls
from across Dublin into our facilities for unforgettable days of basketball.
For us, it’s not just about skills—it’s about role models. Seeing college players and scholars give back shows local children that pathways to education, sport, and personal growth are open to them. This is especially significant for kids growing up in the inner city, who deserve opportunities and inspiration to dream big.
We’re also passionate about women in sport, and athletes like Emma Merriweather exemplify why. Emma (Our 24/25 Trinity Business School
Global Graduate Sport Scholar) not only competed at a high level but volunteered her time in coaching and outreach,
showing young girls that there’s a place for them in basketball, both on and off the court.
The impact is real and growing. Thanks to these connections, many of the children we coach now come to cheer on our Trinity teams,
becoming part of the wider Trinity Basketball family. It’s a circle of support, inspiration, and community spirit we’re proud to keep building.
Together, we’re proving that basketball can change lives—and that the future of the game belongs to everyone.

Each October, Trinity Basketball proudly takes part in Pink for Purpose, a campaign supporting breast cancer awareness and research.
Our players wear limited-edition pink kits, jerseys, shorts, jumpers, and warm-up tops, with €8.13 from every sale donated to breast cancer charities.
This initiative encourages our community to come together — raising awareness, showing solidarity, and contributing to a cause that impacts so many lives.
Through sport and support, we’re proud to stand for women’s health both on and off the court!

all while raising funds and sparking conversations that matter.
The campaign highlights our belief that team spirit extends beyond the court, helping to support men’s health through camaraderie, visibility, and positive action.
