It’s an absolute honour to step into the role of Club Captain for the upcoming season, taking over from my good friends Ciara and Daniel, who both had great success in the role this past year. This last year, I had the privilege of being part of the Executive Committee for the 2025/26 season and got to experience firsthand the incredible leadership, commitment, and hard work they brought to the club throughout the year.
Last season was a record year for Trinity Basketball Club, with huge achievements across funding, social engagement, sponsorship, and media outreach. Being a committee member was something I took great pride in, and it gave me a deeper appreciation for the effort that goes into making this club such a strong and welcoming community. Now, taking on the role of captain myself, especially given the high standard set by captains over the past number of years, is a responsibility and privilege I am incredibly excited to carry out.
Trinity Basketball Club has come so far in recent years, both on and off the court, and I’m proud to have been involved in some of the changes and developments implemented over the last season. Seeing the club continue to grow and improve every year has been hugely rewarding, and I cannot wait to see what the next season of basketball in Trinity has in store.
Whether you’re a returning player, a new student looking to get involved, or someone trying basketball for the very first time, there is a place for everyone in the club. I’m looking forward to welcoming new faces, continuing to build on the strong sense of community within the club, and making the upcoming season another memorable one for Trinity Basketball.
Looking forward to seeing everyone back in the gym soon!

Lydia Rice
Women's Club Captain 2026/27

I am honoured to be elected the Trinity basketball captain for the 2026/27 season which looks to be an exciting one. I first of all would like to say thank you to our previous captains, my friends Daniel O’Toole and Ciara Mulligan on the stellar job they did both on and off the court, making the 2025/26 season one of the greatest seasons in club history at both collegiate level and club level!
Last season the club succeeded in making a notable impact both on and off the court. Some to mention we reached the greatest number of club members in our history, fundraised for breast cancer awareness and movember, our online presence grew rapidly and we saw incredible success amongst our varsities, development, freshers, social basketball teams and also our affiliate clubs Trinity meteors and Trinity basketball club. This was truly a remarkable year and wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work behind the scenes of the outgoing committee of 2025/26.
I am so excited for what is to come and to be part of seeing this club grow and succeed is something I don’t take for granted. Trinity basketball has allowed me to continue playing basketball alongside my studies and more importantly has allowed me to meet so many people that I can call friends for life. So whether you have played basketball your whole life or never touched a ball before there’s always a place here for you in our growing Trinity basketball family.
Yours in sport,
Thomas McCourt
