Trinity Basketball Club has a rich history dating back to 1946, making it one of the oldest basketball clubs in Ireland. In 2026, we’ll proudly celebrate 80 years of basketball excellence, a testament to generations of players, coaches, and supporters who have shaped the club.
Our alumni are a vital part of our community. Many continue to contribute long after their playing days, serving on the committee, mentoring players, and giving back to ensure the club continues to thrive. Their experience and support help guide the club both on and off the court, from developing teams to organising events and fundraising initiatives.
Over the decades, Trinity Basketball has built a reputation for competitive success, community involvement, and fostering lifelong friendships. From pioneering basketball in college leagues to supporting social and development programs,
our history is defined not just by wins, but by the people who make the club what it is.
We’re proud to honour our past while continuing to grow, innovate, and inspire the next generation of players, volunteers, and supporters.
Alumni are always welcome
to reconnect with Trinity Basketball. Whether you want to catch up on the latest club news, reminisce about your time playing, or offer advice to current members, we’d love to hear from you. You can reach out via email, or we’re happy to arrange a call to chat directly.
We want to host alumni gatherings, socials, and match-day events to bring former players together. These events are a great way to meet old teammates, support current squads, and celebrate the club’s achievements while enjoying the community spirit that makes Trinity Basketball special.

Your contributions make a real difference. By becoming a donor, you help fund teams, training programs, tournaments, equipment, and community initiatives. Every donation, big or small, supports the club’s growth and ensures future generations can enjoy the same opportunities you did.

2025 Colours basketball series between Trinity College Dublin and UCD was played for the Mullan Somers Cup, named after and sponsored by alumni donors Paul Somers and George Mullan.
This trophy was generously donated by Paul and George, whose ongoing support and connection to Trinity Basketball have helped preserve and strengthen the spirit of the Colours tradition. Their contribution ensures that future generations of players can compete for a trophy that represents pride, rivalry, and the enduring bonds within the Trinity basketball community.
We sincerely thank Paul and George for their generous sponsorship and commitment to the club.
