Trinity College Dublin offers basketball scholarships through its prestigious Trinity Sport Scholarship Programme,
designed to support talented student-athletes in balancing academic excellence with high-performance sport.
Basketball scholars at Trinity gain access to a comprehensive package of benefits, including financial support, expert strength and conditioning coaching, physiotherapy and medical care, nutritional guidance, performance analysis, and lifestyle and academic mentoring. Apply for a Basketball Scholarship
1. Meet the basic eligibility criteria
- You must have an offer to study at Trinity (undergraduate or postgraduate) and meet all academic entry requirements
- Sports scholarships are awarded to athletes of national or international standard (or equivalent performance level), and you must be able to represent Trinity in college competitions and national leagues
2. Understand scholarship tiers & benefits
- Trinity offers several tiers, each with different levels of support:
- Global Graduate (postgraduate support, tuition waiver, etc.)
- Performance (for U20, senior, national-level athletes)
- Club Academy (for developing athletes with potential)
- Trevor West (for exceptional club contributors)
- Benefits can include financial bursaries, physiotherapy, strength & conditioning, sports nutrition, and lifestyle support
3. Watch the application window
- Undergraduate and postgraduate sport scholarship applications typically open in April and close by 31 August each year
- For the 2025–26 cycle, the deadline is 31 August 2025
4. Prepare your application

- You’ll need:

5. Interview & selection process
- Applications are assessed sport-by-sport, taking into account your performance history and sporting pathway
- Shortlisted candidates are typically invited to interview between late September and early October, followed by scholarship offers and induction .
6. Renewal criteria
- Scholarships are initially valid for one year but can be renewed annually—usually up to graduation—based on continued academic and athletic progress .

Awarded in association with Trinity Meteors, this scholarship honours the legacy of Trinity alumnus K.O. Lee, who coached the Meteors Ladies Basketball team and contributed to the team's successful run in the 1970s. It recognises basketball players who show exceptional talent, commitment, and potential to contribute meaningfully to the women’s programme.
Trinity Basketball Club Academy Scholar
This club-funded scholarship is awarded to standout players who contribute on and off the court — through performance, leadership, and involvement in club activities. Academy Scholars often act as role models and ambassadors for Trinity Basketball, supporting development at all levels.
Trinity Business School Global Graduate Sport Scholarship
Designed for elite-level athletes undertaking postgraduate study, this scholarship supports students enrolled in the Trinity Business School. It is open to global applicants who want to combine international-level sport with graduate business education at one of Europe’s top universities.
Trevor West Sports Scholarship
Named after the late Dr. Trevor West — mathematician, sportsman, and
long-time advocate for student athletics — this scholarship recognises
student-athletes who demonstrate excellence in both sport and service
