We strive to always give our best effort on the field and foster a sense of community and passion among our supporters.The Varsity Tournament, known fondly as Varsities, is the crown jewel of Trinity Basketball’s competitive season and one of the most anticipated events in Irish university sport. Held each year during the first weekend of April, Varsities spans three days and two nights of intense basketball, incredible team spirit, and memories that last a lifetime.

Hosted at the impressive UL Arena in Limerick, the tournament brings together university teams from all across Ireland. Over the weekend, Trinity’s squads battle it out on the court against fierce competition, showcasing skill, determination, and the pride of wearing Trinity’s colours. As the final competitive tournament of the year, Varsities carries special significance—it’s a chance to close the season on a high and reflect on the progress, challenges, and achievements of the months gone by.

Yet Varsities is more than just basketball. It’s a weekend of team bonding and camaraderie like no other. 

Players, coaches, and supporters share bus journeys, hotel stays, late-night laughs, and unforgettable moments both on and off the court. 

For many, it’s the highlight of the year, creating friendships and stories that are talked about for years to come.

Whether lifting a trophy, sinking a game-winning shot, or simply cheering from the sidelines, every member of Trinity Basketball leaves Varsities with memories for life. It’s a celebration of sport, teamwork, and the vibrant spirit of university basketball in Ireland.
